Vampire Diaries
The 100th episode of midseason premiere of "The Vampire Diaries" will air on the CW on Thursday, Jan. 23 at 8 p.m. Bob Mahoney/The CW

Klaroline shippers rejoice! News broke in mid-November that former “Vampire Diaries” villain Klaus would be returning to Mystic Falls – and now we’ve got more scoop on his highly anticipated appearance!

Initial reports didn’t reveal when “The Originals” character would be making his crossover, but a new tip on TV Guide dishes that the hybrid will be coming to Mystic Falls during the 100th episode of “The Vampire Diaries” (episode 11, “500 Years of Solitude”) this Thursday.

So, what can fans expect? According to TV Guide, “Caroline and Klaus will cross paths." (And yes, that’s a euphemism.)

Sounds like Klaroline shippers might have a hot hookup on their hands!

As we previously reported, Klaus will be returning to his old stomping grounds (with another mysterious individual) because word will travel to New Orleans about “events that are taking place in Mystic Falls.” While we can’t be certain until the episode airs, a safe guess would be that these “events” are linked to Katherine’s impending death.

For those unfamiliar with Klaus and Katherine’s history, the original hybrid has been hunting the doppelganger for hundreds of years. Desperate to break the curse that keeps his wolf side dormant, Klaus needed a moonstone and the blood of a doppelganger in order to be free. Needless to say, Katherine did not want to die, and spent a majority of her eternal life on the run from Klaus.

During the season 4 finale, Katherine was force-fed the cure by Elena, and season 5 found her suffering as a human. But things took a turn for the worse for Katherine when Damon lured her to Silas, who drained her of the cure. With the cure out of her body, Katherine’s aging process was quickened and the midseason finale concluded with her having a heart attack.

The midseason premiere, which also happens to be the 100th episode, will find Katherine barely still alive. The synopsis teases that the whole gang will be meeting to throw back drinks and talk about Katherine’s worst moments … and we doubt Klaus would want to miss out on that!

But that’s not all. The synopsis also reveals that Caroline is going to “indulge in a little scandalous behavior.” According to Zap2It, Caroline’s behavior is “ridiculously scandalous” and will leave fans cheering and booing at the same time. “So many mixed emotions,” the site teases. “Expect things to get extremely complicated.” So, what’s this hyped-about behavior? Since photos for episode 12 show Tyler back in town, our theory is that Caroline’s going to be channeling her brutal breakup with Tyler into a steamy make out session with Klaus!
