Vampire Diaries Season 7 Bamon
Bonnie (Kat Graham) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) will share plenty of screen time in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 7, but it won't be romantic. CW

One major relationship won’t take the next step in Season 7 of “The Vampire Diaries.” It sounds like Bonnie (Kat Graham) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) will remain just friends for now on the CW drama.

While at San Diego Comic-Con, both actors and writers revealed that their characters aren’t about to jump in bed together right away. In fact, Damon might not see any action for a while, even though Elena (Nina Dobrev) is comatose.

“It would be throwing away six seasons of story if we gave Damon a new love interest right away. We do want to see Damon happy, but for the time being no new love interest,” executive producer Caroline Dries said, Fanbolt reports.

“You’re dealing with someone who ‘for the moment’ has lost the love of his life,” Graham added.

Bonnie and Damon’s friendship will still be going strong. Even though romance isn’t an option until Damon moves on a little, they’ll still spend plenty of time together. “Damon and Bonnie really bonded. They shared something that no one else can ever understand,” showrunner Julie Plec explained.

However, just because the relationship is platonic doesn’t mean it’ll be smooth sailing for the vampire and the witch. “If Damon and Bonnie’s friendship is going to stay on track, they have a lot of work to do,” Plec teased.

Apparently, that work will start in Europe with a few bottles of booze. According to PopSugar, the duo will be gallivanting around European countries with Alaric (Matt Davis) in “The Vampire Diaries” Season 7 premiere. “When we meet Bonnie and Damon, they're with Alaric in Europe on a binge-drinking tour,” Plec revealed.

So much time together might start to affect Bonnie. She will even become a little more like Damon. “What’s fun with Bonnie is that you get to see when you’re buddies with Damon Salvatore for long enough, you start to see a little Damon rubbing off on her, not to say that that’s a bad thing,” Dries teased to Entertainment Weekly.

While Bonnie and Damon won’t get together in the beginning of “The Vampire Diaries” Season 7, that isn’t to say that Bamon shippers should give up hope. When asked how the series would end, Graham told Clevver, “One of them might kill each other or get married. One of the two.”

“The Vampire Diaries” Season 7 premieres Thursday, Oct. 8 at 9 p.m. EDT on the CW. Do you think Damon should move on right away or are you okay with waiting a little while? Share your thoughts in the comments section below!
