The Vampire Diaries Season 7 spoilers
Candice King's character Caroline on "The Vampire Diaries" is revealed to be engaged in a flash-forward. The CW

A flash-forward in the second episode of "The Vampire Diaries" Seaosn 7 revealed that Caroline (Candice King) is engaged! However, the show didn’t reveal who the lucky man is. What Steroline fans will be disappointed to learn is that we do know that Caroline is not engaged to Stefan (Paul Wesley).

As previously reported, the episode started with a three-year flash-forward that showed Caroline working at a TV news station wearing a nice diamond ring on her finger. Fans most likely assumed she would be getting hitched to Stefan, but the end of the episode teased that Caroline and Stefan might not get along anymore.

When Caroline's assistant told her one of the Salvatore brothers called, she responded: “I never want to hear the name Stefan Salvatore ever again."

While it's still a big mystery as to who Caroline is engaged to, King previously teased in an interview with People that “there’s definitely a chance for Caroline and Stefan to be end game" on the CW series.

“But you still never know, and I think that's what's been really an exciting world for the writers and also a great perspective for the actors, is that it's this kind of supernatural magical world where people can die and there's other sides and there's witches and vampires and this idea of eternal life that can easily be taken away, and anything really is possible," she said. "The idea of anything being concrete just goes away."

The 28-year-old actress, who is pregnant with her first child, also opened up about executive producer Julie Plec saying there's going to be a "curveball" for Stefan and Caroline around episodes 6 or 7.

“There are definitely some curveballs this season, both for Caroline and Stefan,” King told Just Jared Jr. “And I’m sure there’s been a lot of speculation about whether it’s a curveball particular to their relationship, but Stefan’s the one batting that curveball. Caroline’s trying to figure out a way to support him through some…he’s learning a lot with his mother being back in town. There’s a lot of family history that’s coming up for him and his past.”

Season 7 of "The Vampire Diaries" airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. EDT on the CW.
