Vampire Diaries 802 synopsis
Bonnie (Kat Graham) will try to help her boyfriend in “The Vampire Diaries” Season 8, episode 2. CW

Damon’s next target is going to put Stefan in a difficult position. In the “Vampire Diaries” Season 8 premiere, Damon and Enzo were revealed to be under the mind control of a siren. Damon has even turned his humanity off to protect his loved ones, but it seems his victim in episode 2 will force him to confront family.

“After learning that someone from Stefan’s (Paul Wesley) past may be Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Enzo’s (Michael Malarkey) next target, Stefan, Bonnie (Kat Graham) and Caroline (Candice King) head to North Carolina,” the synopsis for the CW drama reveals. With over 150 years of history, Stefan has a lot of people in his past. However, it’s pretty clear that it’s Sarah Salvatore (Tristin Mays) who will return. See Stefan’s great niece in the photo below.

While Stefan is focused on saving Sarah, Bonnie will be determined to help her love. “Bonnie takes drastic measures in an attempt to break Enzo free of whatever has a hold over him,” the synopsis says. However, without magic, her plan might not be strong enough. In the trailer above, it looks like she’ll at least get to talk to her beau.

Sybil (Nathalie Kelley) will be very interested in Damon’s mental defenses. The promo video shows her asking Damon where his mind goes when he tries to resist her. She is shown in the scene of Damon meeting Elena (Nina Dobrev), so she just might figure out his weakness.

The humans will learn more about sirens this week as well. “At the Armory, Alaric (Matt Davis) and Georgie (Allison Scagliotti) stumble upon a mysterious symbol that may be related to the supernatural force controlling Damon and Enzo,” the episode 2 summary teases. Could it be the key to freeing the men from the siren’s spell?

It’s not all about saving the possessed vampires in the final season of “TVD.” Caroline and Stefan will share some screen time too, but it isn’t clear if they’ll be headed for happy times. “Finally, Caroline gets an unexpected surprise from Stefan,” the synopsis says.

“The Vampire Diaries” Season 8, episode 2 airs Friday, Oct. 28 at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
