A van filled with a Teleprompter, podiums and sound equipment for an event featuring President Barack Obama had been stolen from a Virginia hotel parking lot, according to a local news station.

NBC12 in Richmond reported Tuesday that the van -- later recovered later in another hotel parking lot -- contained audio equipment valued at $200,000, several podiums featuring the presidential seal and a Teleprompter. The van was parked at a Marriott hotel near Richmond before the president's Wednesday appearance in Chesterfield.

A spokesperson for the Defense Information System Agency, which provides technical support to the president, told NBC12 that no classified or sensitive information was in the van.

We take incidents such as this very seriously and a formal investigation is continuing, said the agency spokesperson.
