Verizon's HTC One is now available HTC

After a long wait, the Verizon HTC One is now official and will be available on Big Red starting next Thursday. The 2013 flagship took five long months to come to Verizon after being released on other major networks like AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile in March. Verizon is known for keeping its device releases separate from other carriers, likely in order to avoid complications like shipping delays, which often plague international releases.

Verizon tweeted the details of the release on Friday. The 4G LTE enabled device will sell for $199.99 packing 32GB of internal storage. The 64GB option will likely also be available, expected to sell for $249.99.

The HTC One will make its debut on Verizon amid a mass device launch by the carrier. We will see the Droid MAXX and Droid Ultra drop on Aug. 20, while the recently unveiled Moto X is expected to release on Aug. 29. With the signup page for the LG G2 also likely on Verizon’s website, there should be release information about that handset available soon as well.

According to Android and Me, the Verizon HTC One will release with Android 4.2.2 on board, making it the first U.S. HTC One handset to run the operating system. Other carriers are still waiting to see Android 4.2.2 roll out on their HTC One models, while the update has been available to HTC One handsets in Europe since early July. That may explain why it took so long for the HTC One to release on the Verizon network.

Verizon posted its signup page for the HTC One on Tuesday, and interested customers can register for more information on the device’s release. Pre-ordering may become available in the coming days, but we can be sure that the HTC One will be available for purchase online by next Thursday.

The HTC One features a sleek aluminum unibody, a 4.7-inch Full HD display, a 1.7GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 CPU, 2GB RAM and a 4MP UltraPixel camera among its main specs. The HTC One also features the Sense 5 UI on top of Android Jelly Bean, showcasing the popular HTC BlinkFeed tool, which acts as an organizer for news and social media.
