"We Were Soldiers," starring Mel Gibson (pictured), is one of the many military themed movies showing on television on Veterans Day. Paramount

Tuesday, Nov. 11, is Veterans Day in the U.S., which means a day off for many across the country to reflect on and honor those serving at home and overseas. However, some may be looking for ways to fill some of the down time on the midweek holiday. Luckily, many networks on television are airing some fan-favorite movies all day.

Some networks have chosen films that reflect the holiday’s purpose. AMC, for example, will be airing military movies all day, including “We Were Soldiers” and “Heartbreak Ridge.” However, there is no shortage of blockbuster action movies (“X-Men Origins,” “The Amazing Spiderman”) or romantic comedies (“The Wedding Planner”).
