Ivica Olic celebrated his 200th Bundesliga appearance in excellent fashion. His squad down 2-0 to titans Bayern Munich to start the Bundesliga term, VfL Wolfsburg's star forward provided a stunning goal in the 52nd minute to lift his squad's hopes at Allianz Arena on Friday night.
Munich has dominated both sides of the pitch throughout the match, but the 34-year-old Croat put his squad on the board with beautiful left-footed curve from right near the top of the box that goalkeeper Manuel Neuer had no chance to save. Until that point, Wolfsburg had only registered one shot on goal compared to six for Bayern.
Goals from Arjen Robben and Thomas Muller put Munich ahead after 47 minutes, but Olic breathed some new lift into his club after Wolfsburg's notable struggles against the Bundesliga titans. Last season, Bayern outscored the Wolves 7-1 to claim both matches.
Now starting his third term for Wolfsburg, Olic also might have gotten some satisfaction in sticking it to his old club with such a deft touch. He spent 2009 to 2012 at Allianz, netting 13 goals in 59 appearances.
