Midfielder Santi Cazorla's second goal with five minutes remaining put Arsenal up for good on Saturday in a 2-1 victory over Aston Villa at the Emirates Stadium in Premier League action.

The Spanish star rifled in an assist from Nacho Monreal at the top of the box after the Gunners couldn’t get past Villa goalkeeper Brad Guzan. Arsenal peppered Villa’s area with 26 shots, but only Cazorla could breakthrough.

Of Arsenal's 26 shots, seven were on target. Villa took eight shots, with three on goal. The Gunners controlled possession for 64 percent of the match.

Carzola netted the match’s first goal in the sixth minute after recovering his own rebound, and firing right past an outstretched Guzan. The 28-year-old now has 11 Premier League goals this season.

Andreas Weimann kept Villa in the match with a goal in the 68th minute.

Arsenal are currently in fifth place, and are within two points of London rival Chelsea, and one point behind Tottenham. Both clubs were idle on Saturday.
