Lionel Messi and Gerard Pique scored for Barcelona as the Catalans held off Mallorca on Saturday at Estadio Son Moix, 2-0.
The Messi goal may have been tapped by Alexis Sanchez on the free kick in the 25th minute, but for Pep Guardioala it meant that Barcelona was on the board in the first half, which was important against a Mallorca squad that showed little intimidation against the La Liga giants.
Barcelona's second goal came in the 79th minute when Pique delivered off a rebounded ball that hit the post.
The Catalans played a man down for the last 33 minutes after Thiago Alcantara received his second yellow card, but Mallorca could not capitalize.
The defeat snapped Mallorca's four-match streak without a loss.
Barcelona took 18 shots with six on goal, while Mallorca took 10 shots with two on target. The Catalans controlled the ball for 63 percent of the match.
