Forward Cristian Tello powered the Barcelona attack with Lionel Messi out once again, and the Catalans were victorious 3-0 over Real Zaragoza at La Romareda Sunday.
Tello scored two goals, and midfielder Thiago notched another, as Barcelona was in control throughout the match, holding a decided 65-35 possession advantage.
Thiago scored the match’s first goal in the 20th minute, and assisted Tello on each of his scores in the 39th and 53rd minute.
The Argentinian now has five goals in 16 La Liga appearances this season. For Thiago, it was his first goal of the season.
Messi did not play due a hamstring injury, which he suffered in the first leg of Barcelona’s Champions League quarterfinal against PSG. He did play in the second leg, but only as substitute.
Still, the club felt the risk of playing him in a La Liga match was too high, and Messi will continue to get treatment for the injury.
The Catalans were also missing Andres Iniesta, Sergio Busquets, Jordi Alba, and Jose Manuel Pinto.
