It's only the first game of the 2014 World Cup, and there's already a massive controversy.

With the score 1-1 late in the match, Brazil was looking to strike, and found Fred in the penalty box. The forward clearly appeared to go down before receiving contact from center back Dejan Lovren. Though Lovren had his arm on Fred's shoulder, the contact didn't appear to be enough to bring down 6'1 striker. Fred also gave an exaggerated facial expression to help sell the call to referee Yuichi Nishimura of Japan.

Not only did Nishimura make a highly questionable call, but he also issued a yellow card to Lovren. The Croatian players immediately crowded Nishimura to protest following the whistle.

On the ensuing penalty kick, Neymar hesitated before kicking the shot to the left side. Goalkeeper Stipe Pletikosa not only chose the correct side, but also got his hands on the ball. Somehow, the ball still found its way into the back of the net to put Brazil ahead, 2-1.

It was the second goal of the game for Neymar. The Barcelona star previously scored in the 29th minute. Croatia got on the board in the 29th minute when a cross from the left side deflected by Brazilian defender Marcelo and into the net.

Later in the match, Croatia had a goal negated by a questionable foul on Ivica Olic on goalkeeper Julio Cesar.
