Ashley Young got England on the board in the 35th minute, as England have taken a first-half lead on Wales in a Euro 2012 qualifier, 1-0, at Wembley Stadium in London.

The goal was set up by Stewart Downing as the midfielder used some solid moves along the right side to deliver a cross to Young, who used a right-footed one-touch to score.

Young gave a fine cross in the 40th minute to find Wayne Rooney, who couldn't manage to get his head on the ball. On the replay, it appeared that Rooney was offside. Fabio Capello's squad has struggled to get shots on goal, aside from a few chances.

Wales failed to muster much of an attack in the first 45 minutes. The passing has been good for Gary Speed's squad, but the Dragons don't seem to be able to find their forwards. Stars Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey have not put much pressure on goalkeeper Joe Hart.

England are playing the match without Theo Walcott, and Steven Gerrard. Wales are without Craig Bellamy.

Wales is currently at the bottom of Group G, while England is on top, with Montenegro in second place.
