It was only a friendly match, but the Los Angeles Galaxy and Manchester City played a spirited and competitive match in sunny Los Angeles, at a packed and boisterous Home Depot Center.

Though most of the Galaxy starters got a substantial amount of rest, the home team put up a good fight. Former Manchester United star David Beckham played the entire first half against his long-time local rivals.

Despite making a showboating error, Mario Balotelli scored in the match when he converted a penalty kick to give the Citizens the lead in the first half.

In the second half, attacking midfieler Mike Magee converted a very difficult shot that floated over England national team goalkeeper Joe Hart to even the score.

The match went to penalty kicks where Manchester City prevailed, 7-6.

Manchester City dominated time of possession (60%-40%) and shots (17-8).
