Manchester United managed only one goal against Swansea City, but it was enough for the victory on Sunday at Liberty Stadium.

Javier Hernandez scored in the 11th minute, after sliding home his fifth goal of the season off Ryan Giggs's pass. Hernandez was onside on the replay, though it was very close.

Giggs didn't have much to do to get the assist, as Spanish defender Angel Rangel carelessly misdirected a short pass just outside the box. The Welsh veteran took the gift and then delivered a left-footed ball to the six-yard box for El Chicharito to tap in.

The Red Devils had other opportunities to extend their lead but failed to execute against a rather stingy Swansea defense. Hernandez wasted a great chance in the 50th minute, but the young Mexican star simply couldn't control the ball.

Wayne Rooney had a chip shot in the closing minutes but the effort went over the crossbar. Nani's curling shot went beyond the post in the final play of the match.

Swansea had a great chance to level in the 22nd minute but Scott Sinclair couldn't convert an easy opportunity after Wayne Routledge and Danny Graham's combination.

We didn't really look as though we were going to lose a goal, said United boss Sir Alex Ferguson, after the match, according to the BBC.

Swansea had 10 shots on the match, but only one on goal, while Manchester United took 13, with five on goal. Ball possession was evenly split between the two clubs.

This was Swansea's first loss to United in nine matches. The Swans will travel to Aston Villa next week.

Manchester United's next Premier League match will be at Old Trafford against Newcastle, but have a Tuesday match against Benfica in Champions League.
