The Raiders held their ground at home by going to their ground game.

Running back Darren McFadden rushed for 171 yards on 19 carries, and scored two touchdowns, as Oakland defeated the New York Jets, 34-24, at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum on Sunday.

Rookie wide receiver Denarius Moore scored on a 23-yard reverse in the third quarter to give the Raiders second-half momentum. Moore has been a revelation for the Raiders this season, and the receiver also caught four passes for 34 yards.

But it was the Raiders' defense that played a key role in the Raiders' second victory of the season.

Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez was constantly under pressure, as linebacker Kamerion Wimbley and the Raiders' defensive line combined for four sacks, and hurried the young quarterback into rushed passes.

They're a physical football team and I felt like that played right into our hands, said Raiders defensive tackle Richard Seymour. Because we're pretty physical up front on the offensive and defensive lines. Anytime a team wants to come in and play that type of game with us, I like our chances all the time.

Sanchez still completed 27 passes on 43 attempts for 369 yards, to go along with two touchdowns and an interception. The Jets also received a big contribution from LaDainian Tomlinson, who caught five passes for 116 yards, and rushed for 38 yards on six carries.

Along with Sanchez's first quarter interception, Antonio Cromartie muffed a kick return late in the third quarter that set up a Michael Bush rushing touchdown.

The Jets pride themselves on their defense under Rex Ryan, and McFadden became only the third player to rush for 100 or more yards against the Jets with Ryan as the head coach.

Raiders' head coach Hue Jackson may need McFadden to have another strong game next week, as the New England Patriots visit northern California on Sunday. Meanwhile, the Jets have a difficult test next week as well, as they travel to Baltimore to face the Ravens.
