To very few experts' surprise, Real Madrid trounced Dinamo Zagreb, 6-2, in Champions League group play action at Santiago Bernabeu, on Tuesday.

Karim Benzema and Jose Callejon scored twice for Los Galacticos, who have already qualified for the knockout round. Gonzalo Higuain and Mesut Ozil also scored for Real Madrid, as manager Jose Mourinho sat Cristiano Ronaldo, Iker Casillas, Pepe, and Sami Khedira.

Mourinho also replaced three regular starters: Ozil, Xabi Alonso, and Sergio Ramos for the second half.

Dinamo Zagreb, which have been eliminated from Champions League, made the final score look more respectable with goals by Fatos Becirag, and Ivan Tomecak, in the 81st and 90th minute, respectively. The Croatian squad only had two corner kicks.

Real Madrid took 21 shots, with 12 on goal, while Dinamo took eight shots, with three on goal. Los Galacticos controlled possession for 69 percent of the match.

Real Madrid will turn their direction to La Liga, where they are the current leaders. Their next match is at home on Saturday against Atletico Madrid. Then they travel to play Sporting on Dec. 3.

Barcelona are just three points behind Real Madrid. The two clubs meet on Dec. 11 at Santiago Bernabeu.
