You could almost hear Tammy Wynette's Stand By Your Man as Rupert Murdoch's wife pounced on a man who tried to put a shaving cream pie in the face of the media mogul in London.

The theatrics of the pie incident occured when Rupert Murdoch, and son James Murdoch, provided testimony to a parliamentary committee involving News Corporation's knowledge of phone hacking. The father and son basically said they knew nothing of the role now defunct tabloid News of the World played in phone hacking, bribing police officers, and improper influence of politicians.

The phone hacking scandal has far-reaching effects, as the FBI is looking into allegations of phone hacking after reports that News of the World offered to pay a New York police officer for private phone records of September 11 victims.

The media decided to play up the pie incident as the show stealer and the response of Rupert's 42-year-old wife Wendi, who intervened when a British comedian, Jonnie Marbles, attempted to put a foam pie in the media mogul's face.

Wendi Deng Murdoch's quick and physical reaction to the incident created a buzz, as much of the public had little knowledge of Murdoch's third wife.

The couple met in Hong Kong in 1997 when she was 29 years old and Murdoch was 66. They were married in 1999.

The video shows the hearing and the pie incident.
