RTTNews - Vietnam's economic growth slowed to 3.9% in the first six months of 2009 from the same period of previous year, the General Statistics Office reported Wednesday. During the first half of 2008, the economy had recorded an annual growth of 6.5%. In the second quarter, GDP grew 4.5% on a yearly basis.

The construction and industry that accounts for 39% of GDP grew 3.5% in the first half of the year. Meanwhile, services expanded 5.5% and agriculture, forestry and fisheries were up 1.3%.
