A 29-year-old Vietnam man who was next to a mother and her crying child opened the plane door so she child could make a quick escape from a plane that was on the tarmac.

The Associated Press reported that the mother with the child asked for help and the Le Van Thuan obliged by opening the emergency exit and triggering the escape slide.

A state media on Tuesday, reported that the incident happened at Ho Chi Minh City airport and that nobody used the slide. It is uncertain if the crew intervened or the individuals intending to use the exit had second thoughts.

Thuan reportedly told authorities that the child's mother asked him to open the door so she and the child could leave the plane faster. He will be fined $950. It will also cost $10,000 to refit the slide, according to The AP.
