vikings season 3 spoilers
Porunn's (Gaia Weiss, pictured with Alexander Ludwig as Bjorn) fate will be revealed in episode 4 of Season 3 of "Vikings." History Channel

The Vikings may have won the battle, but they have yet to win the war. According to the episode 4 synopsis of “Vikings,” Ragnar (Travis Fimmel) and his gang of gruesome warriors will face new, deadly obstacles when “Scarred” is shown on the History Channel Thursday.

“The victorious Wessex/Viking forces return to Wessex, but there is rancor in the Viking camp,” the summary teases. We have a feeling this may be due to the casualities suffered in the Mercian battle. During the fight, the Vikings lost their beloved friend Torstein (Jefferson Hall) and nearly witnessed the death of Porunn (Gaia Weiss), whose life currently hangs by a thread.

The synopsis reveals that Floki (Gustaf Skarsgard), who was against fighting for Princess Kwenthrirth (Amy Bailey) in the first place, will express his anger over Ragnar’s alliance with King Ecbert (Linus Roache). After all, the king is the one who persuaded the Vikings to swing their swords on the behalf of the princess to keep the peace.

And Ragnar’s friendship with the Wessex king is only the tip of the iceberg in terms of Floki’s frustration. According to reports, the shipbuilding Viking is also resentful about the influence he feels Athelstan (George Blagden), another outsider, has over Ragnar.

Meanwhile, Kwenthrith will make some “calculating political moves following the battle at the Hill of the Ash in Mercia,” the summary reveals. In the promo video for episode 4, viewers can see Ragnar giving the princess advice regarding her reign -- and it doesn’t involve her brother.

“Your brother is weak,” Ragnar bluntly tells her. “And he will be your downfall.”

Kwenthrith has previously stated her affection for her brother, despite his treacherous ways. However, it looks like the princess may love power a little more than she does her own flesh and blood.

The last exciting note worth mentioning is that fans can expect some scandalous scenes to go down in the fourth episode of “Vikings.” In a sneak-peek clip, audiences can witness Harbard (Kevin Durand) using his charming and manipulative ways to woo Queen Aslaug (Alyssa Sutherland). After healing her child, the enchanting wanderer then offers to soothe Aslaug’s broken heart.

“Your husband is a long way away. You fear he no longer loves or desires you,” he says while caressing her face, leading her into the house.

Will Aslaug betray Ragnar? Viewers will find out when “Vikings,” Season 3, episode 4, “Scarred,” is shown on the History Channel Thursday, March 12, at 10 p.m. EDT.
