What better way to kick off the new year than with a raid? According to reports, all of your favorite characters from “Vikings” will return to the History Channel series in 2015 when the Season 3 premiere airs Thursday, Feb. 19, at 10 p.m. EST.

TVLine reported that the 10-episode season will follow Ragnar (Travis Fimmel) as the current king of Denmark attempts to “navigate his newfound power.”

In the Season 2 finale, Ragnar took the crown from the former king after Horik (Donal Logue) devised a treacherous plan against the farmer. King Horik felt the earl of Kattegat was stealing his spotlight. So, in an effort to prevent Ragnar from challenging him, the king concocted a menacing plan to attack the village and kill his friend-turned-foe – along with his children.

However, his plot turned to dust when his supposed ally, Floki (Gustaf Skarsgard), betrayed him with his unwavering loyalty to Ragnar.

“Floki, you have betrayed the gods,” King Horik said in the Season 2 finale.

“No, King Horik. I only betrayed you. I was always true to the gods and Ragnar,” Floki replied.

Following their exchange, every member in the Lothbrok family then stabbed Horik and the king's son was forced to watch his father endure a painful death. Horik was then head-butted to death by the fuming earl. However, as angry as Ragnar was, he spared the life of Horik’s son – a decision that Michael Hirst, the creator of “Vikings,” said Ragnar would one day regret.

“But, of course, that turns out to be a terrible decision in the end,” Hirst revealed to the Huffington Post, foreshadowing a standoff between the late King Horik’s son and the new king of Denmark in Season 3.
