Just when you thought TLC (and Lifetime and A&E and Bravo) had run out of unfortunate lives to exploit for profit...

TLC is set to premiere The Virgin Diaries, which chronicles the lives of awkward grownups navigating life without physical intimacy. One couple even refuses to kiss until their wedding day -- and they don't wait until they get to the honeymoon suite to eat each other's faces off, mortifying their wedding guests.

TLC is most notably responsible for Jon and Kate Plus 8 (which spawned Kate Plus 8.) But they've also delivered such gems as I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant, Toddlers and Tiaras, and 19 Kids and Counting.

This Virgin Diaries should not be confused with MTV UK's The Virgin Diaries, which focused on teenagers preparing to lose their virginity (and was critcized for bordering on the obscene.) Nope, the folks on TLC's The Virgin Diaries are all grown up -- the preview shows men and women over the age of 30 talking about their virginity, which does not seem to be a voluntary choice for all of them.

But at least these folks aren't being exploited for suffering from an actual disease, like Lifetime's forthcoming Starving Secrets, which chronicles women struggling with debiliating eating disorders.

The Virgin Diaries premieres on Sunday, Dec. 4. Right now, it's just a special but we presume a full series is in the works.
