West On Vogue Best-Dressed List

See something missing from this photo from the Met Gala? Well, it was Kim Kardashian, before Vogue intentionally cropped her out of the photo with her boyfriend, Kanye West, for its best-dressed list.

The obvious crop shows West posing on the red carpet in his Givenchy suit holding Kardashian’s hand, identifiable by her own Riccardo Tisci-gloved hand matching the dress that made quite the fuss on social media. The cropped photo appeared on the 77-photo slide show on the Vogue website to wrap up the best-dressed guests at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Benefit gala on Monday.

Meanwhile, as Jezebel noted first, photos of other couples -- like Tiger Woods and Lindsey Vonn, and Kelly Osbourne and Matthew Mosshart -- for the Vogue slide show were not cropped, indicating this was intentional.

And the snub did not go unnoticed online. “Was this really necessary, Anna? Couldn't your team of Voguettes find a solo pic of the rapper instead?” Perez Hilton wrote on his blog. “Or was this your way of getting the last laugh?”

Of course, this is not Kardashian’s first snub from Vogue. Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour reportedly has denied Kardashian attendance from past Met balls for years. But this year, Kardashian and West, who performed at the gala, reportedly dined at Wintour’s Manhattan home ahead of the event in the hopes an “intimate dinner” would sway the editrix to give Kardashian an invitation.

Us Weekly reports Kardashian wore a Prada maternity dress in order to get Wintour’s approval, since the editor famously loves the brand. In fact, it’s also not Kardashian’s first snub from the fashion world, either.

In Elle’s March issue, stylist and newly appointed Diesel creative Director Nicola Formichetti, who was Kardashian’s stylist at one point, said it was more than difficult to dress the starlet because designers didn’t want her wearing their duds.

"People wouldn't lend me clothes," he told Elle magazine. "But that's fashion snobbery." But Tisci, the famed Givenchy creative director who designed Kardashian’s floral Met Gala dress, told Women’s Wear Daily that he loves the reality TV star and thought she looked “amazing.”

“I love Kim. Doing maternity was fantastic. I wanted to have a Kim Kardashian moment, because Kim always supports me. She is the future wife of a really good friend of mine," Tisci told WWD. "I think she looked amazing. She was the most beautiful pregnant woman I dressed in my career.”

Others, though, thought Kardashian was one of the worst-dressed at the ball, including the International Business Times, which placed the starlet on our own worst-dressed list.

Even actor Robin Williams took to Twitter to poke fun at the pregnant starlet, comparing her dress to one he wore in 1993’s “Mrs. Doubtfire.” “I think I wore it better!” he wrote, with a side-by-side photo of himself as Euphengenia Doubtfire and Kardashian.

Thankfully, Kardashian has a fan in West, who defended her during his performance of “I Am God” at the Met Gala, singing, “Let nobody bring you down, you’re so awesome,” to his beau. Kardashian later posted a picture of her boyfriend on stage along with the photo caption, “Baby you’re AWESOME.”
