Today it was announced that Volkswagen had acquired a 15% interest in MAN AG. MAN has welcomed Volkswagen as a strategic shareholder and views the development as a "positive step in the context of its offer to acquire Scania,' a statement said today.

MAN Group has annual sales of around €13 billion. The company employs around 50,000 people and is responsible for supplying trucks, buses, diesel engines and turbomachines.

MAN Group is also a member of the DAX German Share Index of top thirty Plc's in Germany.
