Volkswagen of America Inc. on Wednesday reported that its US auto sales rose 24 percent on strong sales of its Jetta family of cars and wagons.

The company sold 20,189 vehicles in November as against 16,250 units sold during November 2009.

It's no surprise the all-new Jetta and Touareg models did well for November but it's also good to see increases from models such as the Routan, Tiguan and Golf, said Mark Barnes, Chief Operating Officer, Volkswagen of America Inc. Our TDI clean diesel products continue to gain popularity as customers realize the benefit of this product.

The Volkswagen Jetta continues to lead in popularity selling 11,153 Sedan and SportWagen models, a 40.2 percent increase over last year. With its best month since December 2007, Volkswagen's all-new Touareg is off to a great start, selling more than double the model line sales from last November, the statement said.
