A new documentary that focuses on Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III’s recovery from offseason knee surgery will feature a track from noted rapper Wale.

Gatorade and NFL Films teamed up to produce the new documentary, entitled “RGIII: The Will To Win,” the Washington Post reports. The film will focus on Griffin’s efforts to rehab his injured knee, but will also include scenes of the 23-year-old beatboxing and preparing for his wedding. Wale, a 28-year-old rapper from Washington, D.C., performed the documentary’s title track, named “No Pain No Gain.”

In an exclusive interview with Hip Hope Wired, Wale, a die-hard Redskins fan, discussed his decision to contribute a song to the documentary. “It’s just a no-brainer to me because I’m a big supporter of Rob and everything that he’s been doing and what he stands for, as well as Gatorade,” Wale told the website. “I played football for twelve years, so I know a thing or two about electrolytes.”

Wale claims that he’s been an RGIII fan since the quarterback’s days at Baylor University. “I first became aware of him the year he won the Heisman [2011], the first game of the season they aired it on ESPN,” the rapper told Hip Hop Wired. “He was killing so bad, I was like, ‘Who is this dude?’ I never in a million years thought [the Redskins] would draft him and it would be on. I always been a fan of dual threat quarterbacks [sic].”

The D.C.-based rapper was also present for one of the most pivotal moments of Griffin’s career—the day he was drafted by the Redskins. “I had the footage on my old iPhone, I was there. That was history for me. The second pick of the NFL draft, the Washington Redskins select…I was there,” Wale told Hip Hop Wired.

According to Gatorade, “No Pain No Gain” will feature Wale as he “raps from the perspective of Griffin, a gridiron gladiator,” the Washington Post reports. The full lyrics of Wale’s track can be found over at DC Sports Bog, courtesy of Gatorade Productions.
