"The Walking Dead" cast are prepping to begin filming Season 5. Gene Page/ AMC

Brace yourselves, “Walking Dead” fans. Season 5 of the hit AMC series is still a long way away, but there is definitely a light at the end of the tunnel: The cast is back in Georgia to begin filming.

Last time “Walking Dead” viewers left off, a majority of the prison survivors (and a couple of stragglers) managed to make it safely to Terminus. However when they got to Terminus they discovered that it was not the “Sanctuary” they were promised. Instead of finding a new safe haven, they were stripped of their weapons and supplies and locked in a train car. After all they’ve been through; surrendering or giving up was not an option. And in the final moments Rick warned that “they screwed with the wrong people.”

Spoilers for the upcoming season have been kept tightly under wraps, but the cast and crew have been able to tease minor snippets. Just earlier this month, “Walking Dead” showrunner Scott Gimple dished that Season 5 will have not only have a “much different tone,” but a shift of location as well.

Fans will have to keep patiently waiting for those pesky cannibal rumors to be addressed, but in the meantime can find comfort in the fact that the cast is ecstatic to be back to work.
