Walking Dead
Rick's (Andrew Lincoln) group will be "pitted against a group of nasty people" in Season 5 episode 3 of "The Walking Dead." AMC

Rick’s group will have a pretty serious problem on their hands in episode 3 of “The Walking Dead” Season 5. The AMC characters have been on a rollercoaster ride for the past two episodes – nearly getting murdered in the premiere and celebrating getting food and shelter in episode 2. But episode 3, “Four Walls and a Roof,” will introduce a completely new and frightening scenario for the survivors.

According to the synopsis for “Four Walls and a Roof,” the survivors will “find themselves pitted against a group of nasty people.” Just who would that be? Episode 2 set up two groups that could pose threats to Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and the others.

For those who missed episode 2, “Strangers,” Rick’s crew found a new survivor on their trek from Terminus. That survivor turned out to be a priest named Father Gabriel (Seth Gilliam), a popular character in Robert Kirkman’s comic book series. While Father Gabriel appears to be hiding a dark secret, he’s not the biggest threat to Rick’s group.

The final moments of “Strangers” reintroduced Gareth (Andrew J. West) and his remaining Terminus members. Carol and Rick did a number on the false sanctuary, but not everyone was killed in the attack. With Gareth as their leader, the significantly smaller group hunted down Rick’s band and attacked Bob (Lawrence Gilliard Jr.) when he separated himself from the rest of the pack.

“I want to explain myself a little,” Gareth said to a disoriented Bob. “We didn’t want to hurt you … before. We didn’t want to pull you away from your group or scare you. These weren’t things we wanted to do. They’re things we got to do. You and your people took away our home. … Now we’re out here like everybody else, trying to survive. And in order to do that we have to hunt.”

“Walking Dead” viewers discovered in the Season 5 premiere that the Terminus folks were cannibals, but no one was prepared for what came next. The camera panned across Gareth’s camp, revealing that they had cut off Bob’s foot … and eaten it.

“If it makes you feel any better, you taste much better than we thought you would,” Gareth said to the horrified man.

It’s easy to assume that Gareth’s group could continue to pick off Rick’s people one-by-one outside of Father Gabriel’s church in episode 3, but they’re not the only threat lurking in the woods. Episode 2 also reintroduced the black car with the cross on the back window – the same vehicle that Beth was forced into toward the end of Season 4. Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Carol (Melissa McBride) chased after the vehicle … but what will they find when they track it?

“The Walking Dead” Season 5 episode 3 will air on AMC on Sunday, Oct. 26, at 9 p.m. EDT. What kind of trouble do you think Rick and the other survivors will get into in “Four Walls and a Roof”? Tweet your thoughts to @AmandaTVScoop.
