Surprise, surprise … things aren’t going to get any easier for Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and his crew of survivors in Season 6 of “The Walking Dead.”

Fans of the AMC series know that surviving in the zombie apocalypse is no easy feat. From walkers to dangerous humans, trouble lurks behind every corner. And although Season 5 concluded with the survivors safely behind the walls of Alexandria, that doesn’t mean that the upcoming sixth season will be without challenges.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, actress Lauren Cohan, who plays Maggie Greene on “The Walking Dead,” revealed that the group will continue to have a difficult time returning to civilization while at Alexandria.

“It’s about being really challenged,” she said of the new season. “So we’ll see a ton of challenges and we’ll see people the audience as been introduced to as very stable reliable characters crumbling, and I think it’s going to be pretty scary.”

Fans saw some of the Season 6 fallout in the Comic-Con trailer that was released in early July. Clips from the video show Rick making a speech about keeping Alexandria safe and preparing the residents for the dangers beyond the wall. However, not everyone agrees with the former sheriff or his tactics. And based on the footage, it doesn’t look like Rick will be able to keep everyone safe. A couple scenes show humans getting attacked by walkers, while another clip features Abraham (Michael Cudlitz) carrying a body to be buried.

Meanwhile, fans can’t forget that the “Wolves,” a group of dangerous humans, are still on the loose. The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that the villains would be back, causing more problems for the already tense survivors.

As Steven Yeun, who plays Glenn, told EW earlier this week, Season 6 will definitely tackle some “deeply emotional” storylines while delivering the “crazy a—s—t” that fans are used to.

“Walking Dead” will return to AMC for its sixth season on Sunday, Oct. 11, at 9 p.m. EDT.
