U.S. stocks rose at the open on Tuesday, following five sessions of declines, on signs of strength in Europe's banking system and ahead of a $22 billion initial stock offering by the Agricultural Bank of China, set to be the biggest-ever IPO.

The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> gained 112.92 points, or 1.17 percent, to 9,799.40. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> rose 12.92 points, or 1.26 percent, to 1,035.50. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> added 35.25 points, or 1.69 percent, to 2,127.04.
