U.S. stocks fell at the open on Thursday as a stronger U.S. dollar weighed on commodity prices, hitting stocks of natural resource and energy companies.

The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> was down 15.19 points, or 0.15 percent, at 10,276.07. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> was down 2.32 points, or 0.21 percent, at 1,096.19. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> was down 1.31 points, or 0.06 percent, at 2,165.59.
