Stocks edged lower at the open on Friday after GE and Google results fell short of expectations and as investors looked for a resolution in the latest round of Greek debt talks.

The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> was up 8.17 points, or 0.06 percent, at 12,632.15. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> was down 3.09 points, or 0.24 percent, at 1,311.41. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> was down 8.19 points, or 0.29 percent, at 2,780.14.
