U.S. stocks pared losses in early trading on Wednesday with the Nasdaq turning positive, led by a 4 percent rise in shares of Apple Inc .

The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> dropped 13.60 points, or 0.15 percent, to 8,902.34. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> lost 2.91 points, or 0.30 percent, to 951.67. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> gained 1.31 points, or 0.07 percent, to 1,917.51.
