Wall Street added to gains on Friday after data showed sales of newly built single-family homes rebounded strongly in March to their highest level in eight months.

The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> was up 33.86 points, or 0.30 percent, at 11,168.15. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> added 2.99 points, or 0.25 percent, at 1,211.66. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> rose 4.42 points, or 0.18 percent, at 2,523.49.

An index of home builder shares <.DJUSHB> rose 5.5 percent after the data.
