Wall Street Closes Higher, Led by Materials
(Reuters) -- Stocks climbed to a five-month high on Tuesday, led by materials stocks after an upbeat forecast by aluminum company Alcoa Inc and strong gains by bank shares.
The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> was up 68.65 points, or 0.55 percent, at 12,461.34. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> was up 11.26 points, or 0.88 percent, at 1,291.96. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> was up 25.45 points, or 0.95 percent, at 2,702.01.
