Wall Street opened higher on Wednesday as Spain unveiled wide austerity measures, further easing jitters over euro-zone sovereign debt woes.

The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> gained 39.66 points, or 0.37 percent, to 10,787.92. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> rose 5.07 points, or 0.44 percent, to 1,160.86. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> climbed 14.30 points, or 0.60 percent, to 2,389.61.
