Wall Street opens higher on commodities, M&A
Wall Street rose at the open on Tuesday as rising commodity prices and an uptick in merger and acquisition activity fueled hopes the economy is strengthening.

The Dow Jones industrial average <.DJI> gained 63.78 points, or 0.68 percent, to 9,505.05. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index <.SPX> rose 9.31 points, or 0.92 percent, to 1,025.71. The Nasdaq Composite Index <.IXIC> added 19.36 points, or 0.96 percent, to 2,038.14.
