Nintendo Wii, one of the hottest Christmas gift ideas, is getting another $50 off its retail price, thanks to WalMart.

According to Check Out, a blog written by a group of Wal-Mart associates, the retail giant will be offering a $50 gift card to anyone who purchases the game console, effectively lowering the price to $149. The average retail price for a Nintendo Wii is $199.

This deal will last from December 5 until December 12; until stocks last.

The Japanese company reported that 550,000 Wii systems were sold the notorious Black Friday bonanza that serves as a cornerstone for retailers in the run-up to Christmas.

Although senior executives said that it was in a good position, those figures are down more than 30 percent on the same time last year, when the company said it sold around 800,000 units.

Cammie Dunaway, executive vice president of sales and marketing for Nintendo of America, said Wii sales have increased since they slashed $50 off its price tag this year. Wii sales are up 85 percent on a weekly basis since the pricing move, according to the company.
