WATCH: 7-Year-Old Girl Shows Cam Newton Women Also Know And Enjoy Football

Days after Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton landed himself in quite a bit of a pickle with his sexist response to a female reporter, insinuating that women are not as knowledgeable about sports as men, a young schoolgirl has made a video exhibiting that it is not so.

In the video, 7-year-old Reese Emanuele, a 3rd grader from New Jersey, is seen explaining in the cutest way possible, the different pass routes in football. The less-than-a-minute video, posted by her dad on Twitter on Friday, has since been retweeted close to 4,000 times.

Speaking to ABC13, Reese said she recorded the video because she wanted the world to know that women know as much about sports as men. Her dad, Eric Emanuele, also spoke to the news outlet, stating that what drove him to help his daughter make the video was the fact that everything he knew about football he learnt from his mother.

Newton faced heat after he mocked the fact that Carolina Panthers beat writer for the Charlotte Observer, Jourdan Rodrigue, was asking him about pass routes at a post-game press conference on Sept. 4.

"I know you take a lot of pride in seeing your receivers play well," Rodrigue said to Newton. "Devin Funchess has seemed to really embrace the physicality of his routes and getting those extra yards. Does that give you a little bit of enjoyment to see him, truck-sticking people?"

At this, Newton replied: "It's funny to hear a female talk about routes like that. It's funny." Rodrigue immediately took to Twitter to share how she felt about the footballer's remark with the social media users, who were equally outraged at Newton’s sexist remark.

Replying to a Twitter user, who wrote “While I agree with the sentiment — did anyone talk to/confront Cam about his comment? Why ‘Try’ this via social media?” Rodrigue replied, "I spoke with him after and it was worse. I chose not to share because I have an actual job to do today and one he will not keep me from."

Following backlash from people all over the world, Newton apologized for his comment that was “degrading and disrespectful to women" via a Twitter video. “I take ownership to everything that comes with that,” he added in the video. “What I did was extremely unacceptable."
