A major component of the 2012 May Day protest and celebration in New York is the planned concert at Union Square park on Tuesday afternoon. The concert will begin at 4 pm after Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello leads a guitarmy through the city to the park where they will perform onstage alongside Dan Deacon, Immortal Technique, Das Racist, Bobby Sanabria and other musicians. You can watch the performance live above.

Morello and his army of guitarists and other musicians met up at Bryant Park around noon and after playing through a few protest classics the newly formed band set off for Union Square Park at around 2 pm. The guitarmy is now marching through the city along with many May Day revelers and protesters, as all participants draw closer to 14th street Union Square, where the concert will take place.

According to a message posted to twitter by Patrick deHahn there are already close to one thousand [people] here at Union Square.

The guitarmy march is being livestreamed by an account called OccupyMusician (see above video), but you can also watch a livestream being broadcast by Timcast here, which appears to be covering the same march to Union Square.
