William in Westworld
Jimmi Simpson will “pop in” in “Westworld” Season 2, and he shared what he would love fans to see for his character, William. HBO

One of the biggest reveals in “Westworld” Season 1 was that Jimmi Simpson’s character, William, would eventually grow up to become the Man in Black (Ed Harris).

After this reveal, there was no more reason for Simpson’s young William to return for Season 2. But thankfully, show creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy found a way to incorporate him in next season’s storyline.

“I mean, yeah, I pop in,” Simpson said during an interview with The Wrap, although quickly adding “I’m gonna shut up” about any spoilers.

What Simpson did say was the scene he wishes the show would give William. “I wish there was exploration between the time when William’s heart is broken and we see the result. I’ll say that,” Simpson said. “I want to know how much it takes and how hard he tried not to go there. But, I don’t write the story, you know? But that’s for me … Yeah, I love that.”

Another character who will be back is William’s future brother-in-law, Logan (Ben Barnes). He was last seen riding naked on a horse while all tied up for being such a jerk to William. Many presumed the ride would kill him, but a good many others believed it was not the end of Logan.

But Barnes confirmed with Screen Rant that he is going to reprise his role. “I definitely have heard because I can tell you that I have been on set at least once already,” he said.

Simpson even assured fans earlier that Logan isn’t dead. William’s punishment for Logan simply made Logan know who is finally ready to take on the reins of the family business.

“[William's] going to send him off, he’ll get lost in the park, and it's just one more thing [Logan] has done that's not top-tier while they were on their stay,” Simpson told Business Insider.

“It’s just one more bit of evidence [William] can go to [Logan’s] father with and say ‘Look, let’s just be honest with each other: He can stay on, he can stick around on the letterhead, but you know I’ll run the company and it will be very successful for this reason and this reason,” Simpson continued.

“Westworld” Season 2 premieres on HBO in 2018.
