Louis Herthum’s Peter Abernathy only had a few scenes during “Westworld” Season 1, but he made such an impact with the audience that show producers decided to bring him back for next season.

Naturally, his role is being kept under wraps. Will he remember the photograph of the woman he saw? Will he realize that he is a host and make an attempt to escape like Maeve Millay (Thandie Newton)? For now, all fans can do is make guesses.

Herthum himself has no clue what will happen, but if given the chance, he would like Peter to be the first host out of Westworld. “I wasn’t sure I’d come back after the pilot. So every time I came back I was just so grateful. In the eighth episode when he’s downloaded with all the data from the park I felt that was their way of saying I’ll be back next season. If I had my way, I’d love for Peter to get out of this park with all the data. I’m dying to see what the outside world looks like,” he told Gold Derby.

As for Jimmi Simpson’s young William, he may or may not come back next season. It was revealed during the finale that his character eventually grew up to become the Man in Black (Ed Harris), so there’s no more need for him to be a part of Season 2. “We now know the finish line for this man so I don’t know if there’s enough story to show. But I could see some interesting ways to bring him back. Like the corporate takeover, or his other heartbroken visits to the park. But I’d never suggest they just stick William in for no reason,” Simpson said.

On the other hand, no guarantees have been made as well regarding the return of William’s brother-in-law, Logan (Ben Barnes). When W Magazine asked Barnes about his role next season, he refused to dish any spoilers.

“This is the problem about working for HBO and Marvel: you talk about it on pain of death,” Barnes said. “As far as I know, I’m finished with ‘Westworld’, and as far as I know, we’ve wrapped on season one, and I don’t know what's happening after that. And that’s all I’m allowed to say.”

“Westworld” Season 2 premieres on HBO in 2018.
