Maeve Millay (Thandie Newton) is the first host from “Westworld” to ever exercise the act of free will. However, her choice during the Season 1 finale might cost her a great deal.

Newton told Vanity Fair that she loved Maeve’s unexpected change of her heart while she was on the way out of the park. Instead of claiming freedom for her own, she turned back and made the decision to save her daughter.

While her fate is still unclear, one thing’s for sure, and that is the fact that Maeve will be in for some challenges and heartbreak because of her decision to turn back. “That decision is so powerful and badass. I don’t know what it is that she wants to go back for. I really, really don’t. It could be a number of things. But I’m just completely shocked by it. And clueless as to what will follow, but I know it’s gonna be pretty devastating. Whatever it is, is gonna be devastating,” she said.

Maeve almost made it out of the park, but Louis Herthum, the actor who plays Peter Abernathy, hopes his character would be the first one out. Herthum admitted he has no clue what will happen next season, but he is hopeful for Peter’s escape.

“I wasn’t sure I’d come back after the pilot. So every time I came back I was just so grateful. In the eighth episode when he’s downloaded with all the data from the park I felt that was their way of saying I’ll be back next season. If I had my way, I’d love for Peter to get out of this park with all the data. I’m dying to see what the outside world looks like,” he told Gold Derby.

Meanwhile, Peter’s daughter, Dolores Abernathy (Evan Rachel Wood), is going to be pretty different when the sci-fi show returns. Wood told Entertainment Weekly that it’s all because of the revelation she learned during the season finale.

“I’m really curious to see the unleashed version of her that we caught a glimpse of at the very end of the finale,” she said. “Those final seconds, I think we were seeing a completely different side to her, completely different programming and completely off of her leash, so I don’t think she will be the same person; she’ll be an evolved version.”

“Westworld” Season 2 premieres on HBO in 2018.
