There have been a lot of surprising revelations concerning the character of Bernard Lowe (Jeffrey Wright) of “Westworld.” HBO

“Westworld” star Jeffrey Wright has been super impressed with all the fan theories that have surfaced regarding the characters of the HBO show. He was also blown away by the fact that some fans were able to predict that his character Bernard Lowe is the host form of Dr. Robert Ford’s (Anthony Hopkins) former partner, Arnold Weber.

Even though Season 1 has already ended, new theories continue to make their way online. Business Insider revealed to Wright that one theory gaining popularity at the moment is that Ford was in love with Arnold.

For his part, Wright loved the idea. “This is what’s wonderful about the show,” he said of the theory. “We’ve got our writers’ room, and then there’s a cyber writers’ room, as well.”

“We haven’t explicitly explored any of that. Clearly we know that Ford, at the very least rather, we know that there were not a lot of humans that Ford actually relates with, on any level. So the loss of one that he actually can have a conversation with, there’s a lot of fertile ground in there to extrapolate and imagine why that might be,” he continued.

Next season, Wright said that Bernard will be taking on a leadership role now that Ford has been shot dead by Dolores Abernathy (Evan Rachel Wood). “There’s this suggestion that Bernard is the captain now. So there’s a lot to be explored next year,” he told The Daily Beast.

Unfortunately for fans, they will have to wait for quite a while before the second season makes its way to the small screen. “Definitely not coming back until 2018,” show creator Jonathan Nolan told The Hollywood Reporter. “We knew for ourselves that going forward, the production is enormously challenging and ambitious, and so is the writing. So we said very early on that we wouldn't be able to turn this around every year, and knowing full well that that's been a time-honored tradition in television.”

“Westworld” Season 2 will return to HBO on 2018.
