Stationer WH Smith has reported an 8.0 per cent rise in profits to £64 million, for the six months ended 29 February. The news comes despite a 2.0 per cent drop in like-for-like sales.

The company also reported a drop of 3.0 per cent in sales at its High Street shops, but a rise of 3.0 per cent at its airport and railway station shops.

WH Smith said that they had managed to pair £4 million off of its costs for its High Street business in the half year period.
