It’s a good time to be a fan of superhero movies. 2017 is going to be a big year for both DC and Marvel comic book adaptations. See which of your favorite defenders of the universe will be on the big screen this year.

“The Lego Batman Movie” — Feb. 10

Though superhero movies have taken a dark turn lately, expect them to lighten up with the Lego version of Batman (voiced by Will Arnett). This animated flick, a follow up to 2014’s “The Lego Movie,” follows Batman as he tries to save the city from the Joker. He might realize that working solo isn’t the best plan. Robin (voiced by Michael Cera) and Batgirl (voiced by Rosario Dawson) will be introduced in the movie, which is directed by Chris McKay.

“Logan” — March 3

Hugh Jackman’s last run as Wolverine will hit theaters in March. The movie takes place in 2024 after a decline in the number of mutant births. Charles Xavier (Sir Patrick Stewart) will introduce Logan to a young girl named Laura (Dafne Keen), also known as X-23. She was created in an experiment that tried to clone Wolverine.

“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” — May 5

Not much is known about “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.” In fact, more spoilers have come out about the later Marvel 2017 releases. However, director and writer James Gunn has let it slip that audiences will meet Ego the Living Planet (Kurt Russell), Star-Lord’s (Chris Pratt) father. Peter will still be fighting to save the galaxy with his team of misfit heroes, including Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax (David Bautista), Rocket Raccoon (voiced by Bradley Cooper) and Groot (voiced by Vin Diesel), who is still very tiny.

“Wonder Woman” — June 23

Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) was introduced in “Batman v. Superman Dawn of Justice,” but “Wonder Woman” will show us who she really is. Diana will meet Steve Trevor (Chris Pine), an American WWI pilot. His arrival convince her that she must leave her home of Themyscira and interfere with the war to save the world.

“Spider-Man: Homecoming” — July 5

The third attempt at launching a “Spider-Man” franchise may be the one that sticks. Tom Holland stars as the high schooler that Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) recruited in “Captain America: Civil War.” Though Tony wants Peter to go back to being a normal teenager, that doesn’t seem likely. He’ll have to face villains like Vulture (Michael Keaton) and the Tinkerer (Michael Chernus) without a team of superheroes leading the way.

“Thor: Ragnarok” — Nov. 3

Thor (Chris Hemsworth) will be searching for his missing father Odin (Anthony Hopkins) in the third “Thor” movie. The Marvel flick will show Thor traveling to Earth and getting Doctor Strange’s (Benedict Cumberbatch) help in his search. However, it’s an intergalactic trip. The movie will also go to Sakaar, better known as Planet Hulk. Expect Bruce Banner’s alter ego, played by Mark Ruffalo, to appear as well.

“Justice League” — Nov. 17

Wonder Woman and Batman (Ben Affleck) decide that they need a team of heroes. However, not everyone wants to sign up. While the Flash (Ezra Miller) will jump at the opportunity, other heroes like Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and Aquaman (Jason Momoa) will need more convincing. The big question is: how is Superman (Henry Cavill) involved? Clark Kent died in “Batman v. Superman,” but Cavill will appear in the movie.

These are just the DC and Marvel titles set for 2017. There are plenty of superhero movies that aren’t based on comics, like “Power Rangers” (March 24), “Transformers: The Last Knight” (June 23) and “Star Wars: Episode VIII” (Dec. 15), will be making their mark this year as well.
