New York Fashion Week 2012 begins Thursday, when fashionistas will take the Big Apple by storm as designers reveal their coveted Fall 2012 collections. The show will end Feb. 16 after a week of fabulous fetes.

Top models to hit the runways for designers like Michael Kors, Vera Wang, Badgley Mischka, Milly and Tory Burch include Joan Smalls, Candice Swanepoel, Karolina Kurkova, Xiao Wen, Karlie Kloss and Arizona Muse.

The Wall Street Journal reported on Monday that New York Fashion Week 2012 is shaping up to be one of the busiest yet. Designers will focus more on direct marketing to consumers, focusing especially on Chinese and Japanese customers.

New York Fashion Week 2012 will be decidedly different not only because of this new marketing strategy, but also because of the technological add-ons that also prove to further these tactics.

This season, Mercedes Benz has partnered with YouTube and Maybelline Cosmetics to bring the front-row experience to fashion fans around the world with shows from Lincoln Center streamed on YouTube's Live from the Runway channel. Coverage will not only include live video feed from the runway but also interviews, backstage footage and how-to videos.

For those lucky enough to be in the front row, you no longer need to furiously type on your iPad or jabber voice messages to yourself throughout the shows. Thanks to Made Fashion Week, you now have the option to use the Made Fashion Week app to make your job easier.

The Made Fashion Week app uses sound waves played over speakers during MADE runway shows throughout the week to sync to information like photos of the outfits in real-time, designer's name, biography and contact information.
