Spring breaks for high schools and universities begin usually begins in March, and lasts for about a week. This time is ideal for a vacation for school and college goers.

Several websites have suggestions for spring break trips to fit any budget. Some of the most popular destinations the Miami Beach, Cancún in Mexico, the Bahamas and South Padre Island in Texas.

Below are five cheap destinations for you to enjoy spring break in:

1. Lake Havasu City, Arizona: If you are looking for cheap getaways, then this could be an option. Known as "Arizona's Playground," flights to Lake Havasu City could cost around $150 while hotels could be up to $173.

2. Hamptons, New York: If you are looking for a beach getaway, then it's ideal to pick the Hamptons where beaches are less crowded and prices are lower. The average cost for flights would be $276 while hotels could come around $151. The destination is popular for its restaurants and wine tasting tours.

3. Hollywood, California: With an average spending of $238 in airfare and $191 for hotels, you can tour Universal Studios, Hollywood, ride the Ferris wheel on the Santa Monica Pier or choose to go hiking.

4. Gulf Shores, Alabama: This is a budget trip, where you can either choose to relax or hit a party. The average room cost is $130, according to travel websites.

5. Galveston, Texas: Located over 30 miles of beaches in the Gulf Coast, this is an affordable getaway with an average airfare of $174 and hotels for $161.
