Fans of CBS’ “Hawaii Five-0” will be taking a mandatory break from all the action for the rest of December as the series is on hiatus until the start of January.

The crime series aired its two-hour midseason finale last Friday (Dec. 15) and won’t return with a new episode until Jan 5. This will be episode 12 of Season 8, titled “Ka hopu nui ‘ana,” which is Hawaiian for “The Round Up.”

The episode will center on an FBI agent who’s killed while cracking down on organized crime. McGarrett (Alex O’Loughlin) is determined to find the person responsible for this death, rounding up every gang-related criminal along the way. Also during the episode, McGarrett finally gives Adam (Ian Anthony Dale) an official job, tasking him with forming a new team within Five-0 that focuses on organized crime.

Before watching episode 12 in a couple weeks, let’s make sure the midseason finale is still fresh in your mind.

In part one, “I ka wā ma mua, I ka wā ma hope,” Hawaiian for “The Future is in the Past,” Danny (Scott Caan) was shot while quarantined in the hospital with McGarrett, Tani (Meaghan Rath) and Junior (Beulah Koale) and he was left mostly unconscious. While he was having futuristic dreams of his family, his friends were trying to save his life, all while being stuck in a room with a bomb attached to the door. Eventually, they were able to get help from a bomb squad and a doctor.

In part two, “‘Oni kalalea ke kū a ka lā'au loa,” Hawaiian for “A Tall Tree Stands Above the Others,” Danny spent Christmas Eve telling his son a bedtime story about a recent holiday-themed Five-0 case that involved thieving santas. Danny was still recovering from his gunshot wound, but he was being strong about it because he hadn’t told his son that he was injured.

Now that that’s settled, you might not want to watch the rebroadcast of an older “Hawaii Five-0” episode when it airs on Friday (Dec. 30) because it might confuse you timeline-wise. But, if you’re really feeling some crime-drama withdrawal, go right ahead.

Fans just have to hold on a bit longer because “Hawaii Five-0” returns with new Season 8 episodes on Friday, Jan. 5, 2018 on CBS at 9 p.m. EST.
